Long Time No See…

No really, there is work being done.

So I have been away for a wee while. At least from here but I do have ideas cooking away so I shall soon return.

Me up till now

Any ideas random or otherwise please leave in a comment, it might even give me a wee kick in the arse to sort this out =D

Wicked Lasers have made a 1W (very high powered) blue laser with a casing suspiciously Lightsaber like. This device — while looking extremely cool — is dangerous, it is most definitely not a toy.

It can permanently blind people faster than our blink reflex can kick in, set matches and even human skin on fire.

You can buy this online with no regulation, all you have to do is sign a waiver freeing the company of all responsibility. This is a tool which, in the right enviroment, can be very useful but it is also an instrument that, wittingly or not, can cause immense damage.

Selling it for a mere $200, online, with no oversight and making it look like a beloved Lightsaber is irresponsible to say the least.

Not to mention the fact that Lightsabers are not lasers! They’re plasma.

If you want to find out more, head over to io9 or the news feed of your choice.

Enough ranting from me, this site is supposed to be fun.

Unfortunately, I am still stuck with no regular connection. In lieu of a real post I have stolen some ideas from Peter Tennant over on the TTA forum.

Here it is:
Great Literature Improved By Lightsabers

Vader, Vader glowing bright,
With a sabre made of light;
What gauntleted hand could hold
A blade that burns bright and bold?

‘Is this a light sabre that I see before me?’ – Macbeth

‘Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your light sabres’ – Julius Caesar

‘A light sabre, a light sabre, my kingdom for a light sabre’ – Richard III

‘To bear the slings and light sabres of outrageous fortune’ – Hamlet

‘Who steals my light sabre, steals trash’ – Othello

Can you think of any more? (help a guy out, would you?)

I really wanted to have the first proper post up today but somehow my whole weekend became hijacked by life. I also have other commitments which I have to take care of before the weekend is over.

Throughout the week I shall do some mini posts — during the week I only have access through my mobile! — and keep working on how things could be improved.

Here are some lightsaber related pics by way of apology (click on them to see where I stole them from ;-) ):

Which would you choose?

Just a little off the top...

Wouldn't you have paid more attention in history class if they had told you about this?

The 70s, a more innocent time...

This guy doesn't even need a lightsaber.

And that’s that for the moment. I’ll update soon, if you have any ideas for the blog (style, content, etc) leave a comment. Ta.

So Betty White is the last of the Golden Girls. The Force was strong with all of them and, although they didn’t need them, it would have been cool had they Lightsabers.

All the pics via io9.

What would our world be like with more lightsabers? When would or could they be put to use? What fun could we have if watching the parliamentary channel or C-Span if opposing sides had regular duels?

I’m not yet certain what form this blog will take I’m open to suggestions on how to implement this and to what would actually be better.

I’ll start posting this weekend, the first topic will be parliamentary debates. Suggestions?
